What is a good drink before a football or rugby game?

I’ve heard Red Bull can be bad for one reason or another. I’ve also heard beer and soda is a good drink. For what reasons are these good for you. The most suprising though has been ginger ale+grape juice which raises your blood sugar. What would raising your blood sugar do? Yeah I know water is the best option but I’ve never had any problems with dehydration.
